Linkage
In Linkage, I bring together two things I love about making art: working within a set of rules and responding intuitively as a painting develops. Each piece combines a color field, a repeating pattern, and interwoven organic forms. The patterned layer follows a set system, while the background and foreground give me more freedom to respond to what is happening on the surface. I enjoy the tension between those two approaches. I love intertwining and overlapping organic shapes to shapes to create a sense of movement and connection. Repetition and rhythm also play an important role, reflecting the influence of music on the way I think about painting.
