A Busy Summer for the Linkage Series

One of the unexpected pleasures of making a series is seeing the individual paintings eventually find their own paths. Right now, four paintings from my Linkage series are on view in four different exhibitions, and it's exciting to think of them being experienced by different audiences at the same time.

The next exhibition to open is Later Impressions at the Art Center Highland Park, where Linkage: The Guardian will be on display. The opening reception is Friday, August 14, from 5:30–8:00 p.m., and the exhibition continues through September 26. If you're nearby, I'd love to see you at the opening.

The following day, Linkage: Crossing Currents opens in the Acrylic International Biennial at the Kenosha Public Museum. The exhibition runs from Saturday, August 15, through Sunday, November 8. It's an honor to have this painting included in a show that celebrates the versatility and possibilities of acrylic painting.

At the same time, Linkage: Between Systems is currently on view at the Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago as part of Color Songs: Musicians as Visual Artists. That exhibition opened on July 17 and continues through September 4. Since music has been such an important influence on both my life and my visual work, this exhibition feels like an especially fitting place for the painting to be.

And for anyone who isn't able to visit in person, Linkage: Daybreak is part of the online exhibition Abstraction: Forms, Lines and Color, which opened on July 23 and runs through September 23. You can view the exhibition here:

When I began the Linkage series, I wasn't thinking about where the paintings might eventually end up. I was focused on exploring the relationship between intuitive color fields, repeating patterns, and interconnected organic forms—finding a balance between structure and spontaneity. Looking back now, it's gratifying to see these paintings continuing that conversation in different places and different contexts.
